Valerie Charneski: As Commodore of her own fleet of 3 Butterfly sailboats. Valerie has generated great excitement in promoting the Butterfly fleet. Valerie has sailed on most of the boats sailing regularly on Lake DuBay and is getting comfortable on the Butterfly.
Dennis Gamble: Sneaky fast around the race course, Dennis sails well in all conditions and received a 9.0 for a spectacular "dismount" from his Butterfly in 2008. Dennis is the 2009 Secretary/Treasurer of LDBSA.
David Martin: While he claims he'd rather sail his Buccaneer with good looking feminine crew, we all know he enjoys ripping it up in the Butterfly. David is the 2009 Commodore of LDBSA. David's son, Michael has been known to take the tiller once in a while, so we're looking forward to seeing the Martin's on the water in '09.
Amy Mielke: Like Valerie, Amy has crewed on just about everyone's boat on Lake DuBay and is gaining experience. Amy recently purchased a Butterfly and we're looking forward to getting her up to speed quickly.
Calen Terry: The youngest active sailor at LDBSA and a series place winner in 2008, Calen is getting fast and has been finishing at the top of the fleet. Calen has participated at two Butterfly National Championship Regattas and is looking forward to the 2009 season.
Joe Terry: If it's a scow, Joe likes to sail it. While some might think 250 lbs is a bit heavy for a Butterfly, Joe gets it around the course pretty well, finishing well in two Butterfly Nationals. Joe is also our local Butterfly dealer and is currently Commodore of the National Inland 20 Scow Sailing Association.
Tristin Terry: Three of the four Terrys will be sailing Butterfly sailboats in 2009. Tristin has done some crewing and has sailed the Butterfly a few times in 2008. We'll see how she does in 2009 - and if she can convince Mom to join the rest of the Terry's on the water.
Jack and Sheryl Thielke: purchased a Butterfly at the end of the 2008 season and Sheryl is excited about sailing it in 2009.
If you are a member of LDBSA and join the fleet, contact the
webmaster to be added to the roster.
Ed Peck: Ed is giving the Butterfly a try for 2009 and has been fast right from the start. Speaking of starts, Ed tends to be very consistant on the starting line and gets the bow out on the fleet on a regular basis.
